Callum Cant

Callum Cant is a Senior Lecturer in Management at Essex Business School, where his research focuses on work, crisis and technology. He is an expert member of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence and a research affiliate of the Oxford Internet Institute. He also edits Notes from Below, a workers’ inquiry platform that studies the contemporary economy from the ground up.

His first book — Riding for Deliveroo: Resistance in the New Economy — is an investigation of class conflict in platform capitalism; it was published by Polity in 2019. His new book, co-authored with James Muldoon and Mark Graham, — Humans of AI: The Hidden Labour Behind Artificial Intelligence — was published by Canongate in 2024.

He lives in South East London with his wife and dog and in his spare time he runs ultramarathons and supports Crystal Palace.
