Michael Peel

Michael Peel is the Brussels correspondent for the Financial Times, having previously been its West Africa and Middle East correspondent. He has contributed articles on Africa to the LRB, Prospect and Granta. His first book, A Swamp Full of Dollars: Pipelines and Paramilitaries at Nigeria's Oil Frontier, was shortlisted for the Guardian First Book Award in 2011; it was followed by The Fabulists: How Myth-Makers Rule in an Age of Crisis in 2021. His third book, What Everyone Knows About Britain* (*Except the British), was published by Monoray in 2024.
