Threa Almontaser
Threa Almontaser is a Yemeni-American writer, translator, and multimedia artist from New York City. She holds an MFA from North Carolina State University. She is the author of The Wild Fox of Yemen (Graywolf Press, 2021), nominated for the National Book Award, the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work, and the Pen/Voelcker Award for Poetry. Her debut has received widespread national recognition, including the Walt Whitman Award from the Academy of American Poets, the Maya Angelou Book Award, the Arab American Book Award, and the Brooklyn Public Library Literary Prize.
When not storytelling or coming up with conspiracy theories, she attends comic conventions, trains her koi to do tricks, and keeps an eye out for pretty rocks. She believes writing should not only entertain, but provoke, and can be found most likely sitting hunched over her desk thinking obsessively about the placement of commas.
