Timandra Harkness

Timandra Harkness is a British writer, presenter and lapsed comedian. She has presented BBC Radio 4 documentaries including the FutureProofing series, What Has SatNav Done To Our Brains, How To Disagree, and Five Knots.

Harkness chairs and speaks at public events for clients including the Royal Society, the British Library, the Alan Turing Institute, the Royal Academy of Engineering, and many others. She is a Graduate Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society, and Chair of the editorial board of their journal, Significance.

Harkness has written for many publications, including the Telegraph, Guardian, Sunday Times, WIRED, and the New Statesman. She has also co-written and performed comedy shows related to science and mathematics, including collaborations with Dr. Helen Pilcher, comedian Matt Parker, and Socrates the rat.

She is the author of Big Data: Does Size Matter? published by Bloomsbury Sigma in 2016, and Technology Is Not The Problem published by Harper Collins in 2024.
