Leah Hazard

Leah Hazard graduated from Harvard University and worked in print journalism and television before the births of her two daughters prompted her to change direction. Leah is now a practicing NHS midwife in Scotland and has worked in a wide variety of clinical areas, delivering hundreds of babies and caring for countless families along the way. Leah is a frequent commentator on women’s health across the media, writing for New Statesman, The Guardian, Grazia, and more.

Her memoir Hard Pushed: A Midwife’s Story (Arrow, 2021) was a Sunday Times bestseller in the UK, and Womb: The Inside Story of Where We All Began (Virago, 2023) was a New York Times Editors’ Choice. Her debut novel, The Anatomy of Us, will be published as an Audible Original in May, read by Academy Award nominee Jessie Buckley.
