Sharna Jackson Wins Category in Waterstones Childrens Book Prize 2020

Sharna Jackson's High Rise Mystery has been voted the Best Book for Younger Readers in the Waterstones Children's Book Prize 2020, announced at midnight on the 29th July.

Waterstones has said of Sharna's brilliant middle grade novel, that 'with its vibrant urban setting and winning characterisation, High Rise Mystery is a very welcome addition to the burgeoning child detective genre.'

Alongside Sharna, the overall winning title was the Best Illustrated Book, Look Up! by Nathan Bryon and Dapo Adeola.

On receiving the award, Sharna said: 'I wanted to see if mystery?s codes and conventions could be transposed to today in a new context, to a working-class setting, led by two contemporary clever and funny black girls. I like to think that winning this prize means that the experiment was a success, so thank you!'
